Wilma Amagene “Jean” Hatley
Jean, age 94, of Tulsa, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 2, 2016 at University Village Health Center. Jean was born in Craig County, Oklahoma, March 8, 1922 to William C and Julia Pearl (Rentle) Buxton. She was raised in Bluejacket, Oklahoma, where she received her high school diploma. Sometime later she met her husband, William Ole Hatley, and they were married May 23, 1947, which began their journey of serving the Lord. They spent many years, side by side, each with their own talents and abilities serving the Wayside, Wyandotte, Panama and Stilwell Assembly of God Churches in the Oklahoma district. Jean faithfully served alongside Ole as a pastor’s wife, women’s ministry leader and Sunday School teacher. In the community, she served as a “granny“ in the Marietta School Kindergarten class and received honors in the Cookson Hills Community Action Foster Grandparent Program for three years. Retiring in Skiatook, Jean and Ole loved to go to garage sales, attend the Skiatook Community Center, attend and be involved in the local church as well as spend time with their families that lived in Skiatook and the Tulsa area.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Soni Bates and husband Jack of Tulsa, Son; Bud and wife Sherry Hatley of Tulsa, Daughter Julia Hatley of Skiatook, Grandchildren; Stacey Bates, Shannon Geurin and husband John, Sheila Leaver and husband Kevin, Kendall Hatley and wife Rachael, 7 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Ole, parents and 3 brothers, Junior, Blondy & Bill Buxton.
