William Robert Jones

November 28, 1965 — July 2, 2024

Barnsdall

William Robert Jones was born November 28, 1965, to William Carl Jones and Virginia Pack Jones in Marysville, Ohio. He, along with his parents, brother Tim, and sister Angela, moved to Marysville when his father, Bill, started the Marysville Free Will Baptist Church. Bob graduated from Marysville High School in 1984.  In June of that year, Bob enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed at Ft. Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma.  Providentially, his pastor, Dr. Curtis Linton, moved to pastor a church in Tulsa, where a certain young lady attended.  Bob met Carla in July of 1986.  He was honorably discharged from the Army on March 28, 1988, and they married on April 1, 1988.  Yes, that was April Fool’s Day, but it was also the first Friday after he was discharged. They made their home in Tulsa for two and a half years. Then they moved near Skiatook for a few months before moving to Ohio in 1991 where they lived for a little over a year.   Bob liked to tease Carla about not having time to hang pictures on the walls. In 1994, they moved to Avant, Oklahoma.  Then in 1999, they moved to an acreage in Osage County near Barnsdall.  They made their homestead there and have lived there to the present.

Early on, Bob and Carla decided that she would stay home with their children and he would work to provide for them, and he faithfully did so.  He worked at TanData as a national field service technician for a few years.  He served as principal of Northside Christian Academy for a year. Then he was a Systems Engineer for Creative Logistics Systems.  Although the pay was good, it required him to travel a lot.  So, he began working for himself doing various jobs. He worked at a machine shop, did contract work for logistics systems, and even auctioned off books on eBay.  God always provided for the growing family. He volunteered at a ministry called The Voice of the Martyrs in Bartlesville.  This opened the door for him to be employed there in 2004, working his way up to Enterprise Application Manager. He had been there for 20 years at the time of his homegoing.

Bob faithfully served the Lord in various ministries.  He and Carla worked for many years in Children’s Church where he was Billy Bob to the kids.  He enjoyed amazing the kids with his magic tricks. A sermon about the second half of your life challenged him and changed his focus. He answered the call to missions and made his first trip to Moldova in 2002. He had a huge heart for orphans and the poor.  He made many friends and was well loved in Moldova.  Only eternity will tell how many lives he touched.  He led several groups of young people to Moldova, and their lives were forever changed. He attended the First Free Will Baptist Church of Barnsdall with his family.

Bob dearly loved his family. He and Carla recently celebrated 36 years of marriage.  He was so proud of his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his parents Bill and Virginia Jones of Marysville, OH; grandmother Pauline Pack of Marysville, OH; wife Carla of the home; daughter Naomi of Barnsdall; son Nathan and wife Nicole of Bixby; son Jacob and wife Amy of Clinton, Washington; son William Josiah of Bartlesville; daughter Hope Frederick and husband Theron of Tulsa; daughter Charity of the home; son Benjamin and wife Alexis of Neosho, Missouri; son Stephen and wife Livia of Barnsdall; son John Alexander of the home; brother Timothy and his wife Chrissy; and sister Angela Laird and husband Daniel. He and Carla have eight grandchildren: Quinton, Noelle, Esther, Reuben, Elisha, James, Morgan, and Baby Frederick.
