Wathena Mae (Forbes) Tanner
Wathena Tanner, age 81 of Tulsa, Oklahoma went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday March 21, 2023 at University Village in Tulsa.
Wathena was born December 13, 1941, in Collinsville, Oklahoma to Elbert Henry Forbes and Irene Bernice (Hendryx) Forbes. She grew up and received her education in Skiatook, Oklahoma and graduated from Skiatook High School in 1960 before receiving her Bachelor degree in Elementary Education from Tulsa University. On October 8, 1982, Wathena married Elwood Wilson Tanner Jr. in Collinsville and made their home in Nowata, Oklahoma and Skiatook before moving to Tulsa in 2019. She worked as a teacher for Caney Valley School system for 20 years. Wathena attended Avant House of Prayer and was a current member of the Church of God in Skiatook. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing, reading the Bible, and being with family.
Wathena was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Tanner Jr., mother and father, Elbert and Irene.
Wathena is survived by her son, Greg Murrie and wife Linda, grandson, Mathew Murrie and wife Joanna, sister, Dana Gardner and husband Darrel, nephew, Dean Gardner, niece, Dixie Osburn, great nephews, Chaz Gardner and Ethan Osburn, and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family of Wathena Tanner entrusted her care and services to Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
