Virginia “Maxine” (Downs) Buck

Funeral services for Virginia “Maxine” Buck will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Sperry with Rev. Andy Anquoe , officiating. Interment will follow in the Osage Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.

Virginia “Maxine” Buck, age 92, former Sperry resident and resident of Owasso, died at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2016 at her Owasso home.

Maxine was born July 16, 1923 in Sperry, Oklahoma to John Daniel and Lena Maude (Griggs) Downs. She grew up and received her education in Sperry graduating from high school in 1940 . Maxine married Claude Harmon Lewis on July 16, 1942. Maxine later married William Arthur Buck on April 19,1995 . Maxine was employed with Jordan Hardware and with Gaddy’s Grocery Store in Sperry where she was a clerk. Maxine liked  painting and cooking and was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Sperry.

Maxine was preceded in death by her mother and father, husband Claude, and husband William, one brother Eugene Downs and by one sister Alverda Crain.

Maxine is survived by her son: Claude Wayne Lewis, one sister: Dorothea Nelson, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, five great- great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Music for the services will be: “My Angel”, “Go Rest High On That Mountain” and “Softly and Tenderly”.

Casket escorts for the services will be: Jeremy Lewis, Denton Wolf, Will Driver, Daren Lewis, Dennis Wolf and Danny Nelson.

Funeral services and interment are under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
