Vickie Morrison

July 5, 1956 — February 8, 2023

Tulsa

Vickie Renea Morrison, age 66, of Tulsa, Oklahoma went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday February 8th 2023. She was the beloved daughter of LD and Helen Wood of Twin Oaks Ok.

Preceded in death by Grandparents Thomas and Mary Wood, of Kenwood Ok and Pete and Iva Martin, of Leach Ok Father LD Wood and Niece Keisha Wood, both of Kansas Ok.  Husband John Helton and Gary Morrison, both of Tulsa Ok

Survived by Son Kevin Morrison and wife Ashley. Grandchildren Domino Lee Shew, Dominique Lee Tyes, David Lee Tyes Jr. Deja Lee Shew, of  Tulsa Ok. Mother Helen Wood, of Twin Oaks Ok. Brother Doug Wood and wife Mary of Navarre, Fl. and Brother Thomas Wood and wife Rhonda of Neosho, Mo. Along with many nieces and nephews and her special Emily Hardy of Kansas Ok. Ceci Helton Stansill, nieces Ashlea Hoffer and Lydia Moore. James and Marie Foutch and 22 nieces and nephews, of Tulsa OK. As well as many extended family members and friends.

Vickie was a Registered Nurse for 47 years. She graduated the nursing program from Bacone College and began her nursing career at St. Johns Hospital in 1976 where she worked in Med/Surg area until she joined the IV team where she became a highly skilled IV nurse.  After 44 years at St. Johns she left and started working for Compassus Hospice and was working there until her passing. Her life career was nursing Her passion was taking care of patients, their families or of anyone in need. She had come to care very deeply for her patients who are going thru the end stage of their life. Her compassion and loving ways, contagious smile and the comfort she shared was who she was and what she loved and did best.  Her days off were spent always taking care of everyone else.

Vickie's hobbies included photography, watching sports football, basketball, baseball and the last 4 years she became a huge fan of volleyball especially from Mid American Christian College where her favorite player # 2 plays. She enjoyed spending every weekend visiting the family farm. with her mother and niece Emily hanging out taking care of the animals. One of her favorite things was cooking steaks, with her brothers Thomas and Doug when they were in town. Vickie loved going on cruises with several friends, she loved dreaming of winning the lottery not for herself but what she could do for others.

Vickie was very excited and looking forward to retiring, so she could spend time traveling and spending time with family and friends. Vickie's leaving this world so early has left a huge hole in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her. She left a very special legacy of what true unconditional caring and compassionate love really is. The many lives Vickie touched were blessed and each person is better for knowing her. and being loved by her.
