Vernon Ray Eastin
Memorial services for Vernon Ray Eastin will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2015 in the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dale Nielsen, officiating. A private family interment will be held in the Osage gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
Vernon Ray Eastin, age 77, of Skiatook, died at 6:09 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2015 at his Skiatook residence.
Vernon was born August 30, 1937 in Collinsville, Oklahoma to Melvin and Tina (Shadwick) Eastin. Vernon grew up and received his education in Collinsville. Vernon entered into the United States Air Force where he completed his education. Vernon entered into the United States Air Force in 1954 and was over the funeral procession for President John F. Kennedy receiving recognition from Washington as well as Mrs. Kennedy. Vernon retired and received his honorable discharge in 1974. Vernon married Gwendolyn Irene Spurgeon on January 6, 1956 in Collinsville and they made their home in Sumter, South Carolina, Bermuda, Washington DC, Anchorage, Alaska, Enid, Oklahoma, Fairbanks, Alaska, Owasso, Oklahoma in 1974 and then moved to Skiatook in 1982 where he has made his home since that time. Vernon was a member of the Christian Motor Cycle Association.
Vernon was preceded in death by his mother and father, wife: Gwendolyn in 2011, two daughters: Robin Eastin and Loretta Sue Welch, a set of twins, one brother and by one sister.
Vernon is survived by his two children: Verna C. jones of Skiatook and Billy R. Eastin and wife Mary Jane of Skiatook, three sisters; Betty Anderson, Mary Henson both of Tulsa and Helen Mcmillan of Cleveland, OK, one brother; jimmy Eastin of Owasso, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Music for the services will be: “Amazing Grace”, “The Old Rugged Cross”, “On The Wings Of A Snow White Dove” and “I Got A Mansion”.
Cremation, Memorial Services and Interment are under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
