Theodosha Mae (Willcox) Thompson
Memorial services for Theodosha “Theda” Mae (Willcox) Thompson will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 22 in the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home Chapel.
Theda Thompson, age 80, of Skiatook, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 19, 2023 surrounded by her family. Born November 18, 1943 in Hominy, Oklahoma, Theda was the daughter of Opal (Corbell) and Ralph Allison Willcox. Theda grew up and received her education in Hominy. She married Richard “Dick” Linn Thompson, Sr. on January 20, 1962 in Hominy, Oklahoma and they lived most of their lives in Skiatook, Oklahoma.
A florist for a period of time, Theda owned Theda’s 21st Street Flowers. She also worked briefly as a receptionist at Peters-Stumpff Funeral Home, but was most beloved as a homemaker, mother and grandmother. With her children and grandchildren as her main priority, Theda was active in their schools and sports. She was the homeroom mom for all three of her children and a Campfire leader for three years. She was an integral part of the early years of the all-youth Skiatook soccer club, supporting all aspects from running concessions to painting buildings to mowing fields. She was a master fundraiser “making more cupcakes and cookies than anyone on the planet” and supported both the soccer club and the Skiatook Quarterback Club. Relying heavily on her faith, Theda was a leader at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in her younger years as well as a CCD teacher.
Of all her many abilities and qualities, the three that stood out were her partnership and dedication to her husband, her quick wit, and her skills in the kitchen. With a constant flow of kids and friends through her home, her food was legendary. There was always a seat at her table for a cup of coffee and conversation.
Theda is survived by 2 children: Stacey Thompson and Rich (Ann) Thompson; 7 grandchildren: Misti, Gretchen, Chris, Sarah, Jack, Will and Josi; and 7 great-grandchildren. Theda was preceded in death by her mother and father and daughter, Stephanie (Calvin, deceased) Bates as well as her brother, Ralph A. Willcox, Jr.
The family of Theda Thompson entrusted her care and services to Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
