Stanley Alvin Anderson
March 15, 1925 — October 25, 2013
Stanley Alvin Anderson ended his journey on earth on October 25, 2013, after a life he considered filled with blessings. Many people admired how he had faced his battle with cancer with courage and dignity. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Avis. He is survived by his children, Debbie Anderson (Robert McKenna), Linda McCamant, Donna Emanuel (Bill), and David Anderson (Tonya). He has wonderful grandchildren (Ryan, Amy Brent, Jennifer, Ashley, Leslie, Ethan, Nathan, and Audrey), and two special great granddaughters (Elsa and Emery) who all called him Gpaw. His sister Gladys Wilson and her daughters (Kim and Karen) also survive him. His sister-in-law Norma Morgan and husband Frank are two of his favorite people as are their children (Rose,Julie, and Denise). He is also survived by several great nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was born in Lohrville, Iowa, on March 15, 1925 to his parents Claude and Hazel Anderson. He served in the US Navy before graduating from Drake University. After working for Aeromotor Windmill Company for 35 years, he continued to work as a consultant to several windmill companies and was a valued resource of knowledge for windmill collectors and researchers up until his death.
He enjoyed woodworking, antiques, riding horses, and possessed a special gift of working with animals of all kinds. But his favorite pastime was helping at the Anderson/McKenna home in Skiatook. He was a common fixture on the Osage Prairie Trail and enjoyed his daily walks. Although never a farmer himself, he liked returning to Iowa each fall to help family and friends during harvest season.
One of his greatest pleasures in life was when his family would gather from across the country to spend time together. His final wish was for all to gather one more time under his favorite tree to celebrate life, eat some BBQ, and share stories of our blessed lives
