Shirley Jean Long, age 87, of Skiatook went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, April 20, 2023 in Skiatook.
Shirley was born September 2, 1935 in Skiatook, Oklahoma to Arvil H. “Rass” and Jimmie Lee (Fleming) Peters. Shirley grew up and received her education in Skiatook where she graduated with the Class of 1954. Shirley married Charles LeRoy Long on April 2, 1955 in Skiatook and they made their home in New Mexico, Texas, Oologah, Pawhuska, Tulsa and returned to Skiatook where they had made their home since 2006. Shirley was a retired nurse where she had worked in various Dr.’s offices. Shirley was of the Assembly Faith and had also attended the Community Lighthouse Church. Shirley loved sewing, reading, quilting, antiquing, traveling in RV, camping and collecting blue and white dishes. Shirley loved to share her love of Jesus and was doing so right up through the last few weeks of her life. Shirley will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She has touched the lives of so many people in and out of our community.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; Rass and Jimmie Lee Peters, husband; Charles, son-in-law; Jeff Musick, brother; Arvil “Sonny” Peters and sister; Nadine Davis.
Shirley is survived by her five daughters; Rhonda Kay Musick, Rheta Faye McMillian and husband Johnnie, Regina Lynn Mazkoori and husband Mehrdad, Jean Patterson and Jan Rambo and husband Vernie, five brothers; Roy Lee Peters, Boyd Peters, Loy Peters, Ronnie Peters and Benny Peters, one sister; Janice Eades, ten grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Music for the services will be; “Then I Met The Master” performed by; Darold Patterson. Music for the video will be; “I’ll Be Seeing You”, “Blue Bonnets In The Spring” and “How Beautiful Heaven Must Be”.
Pallbearers are; Aaron King, Matt King, Ethan Patterson, Michael Martin, Travis Bailey and Evan King. Honorary pallbearers are; Lane Martin, Elliot King, Justin Long and Josef Miller.
The family of Shirley Long entrusted the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home with her care and services.
