Samuel Ray “Sam” Bench
Funeral services for Samuel Ray “Sam” Bench will be held at 11:00 a.m Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the Skiatook United Methodist Church with Bill Bowman, officiating. Interment will follow in the Osage Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
Samuel Ray “Sam” Bench, age 40, died Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the St. John Medical Center in Tulsa.
Sam was born March 8, 1974 in Gillette, Wyoming to Allen Ray and Peggy Jo (Bates) Bench. Sam grew up and received his education in Ramona and graduating from Caney Valley High School in 1993. Sam was employed with the Skiatook Statuary and went to work for the Town Of Skiatook/City Of Skiatook on September 10, 1997 where he was working in the Sanitation Department. Sam liked to fish and liked gardening. The Bench family attended Guts Church where Sam would volunteer and the family enjoyed serving where they could.
Sam was preceded in death by his father; Allen Ray Bench, grandparents; Mavis and Roscoe Bates and Woodrow and Flo Luton.
Sam is survived by his wife; Missy of the home, three children; Caleb, Colton and Chloe Bench all of the home, six brothers and sisters; Allen Bench of California, Clint Hoover of Tulsa, Janie Weed of California, Kami Amies of Skiatook, Sherri Rowe of Sand Springs and Wendy Martin of Tulsa, mom and step dad; Peggy and David Taylor of Terlton, step mom; Carolyn Bench, niece; Devina Rowe of Sand Springs and a host of other relatives and friends.
Casket escorts for the services are; Chuck Wynashe, Kenny Rowe, Clint Hoover, Wade Preslar, DJ Mooney and Chris Preslar. Honorary casket escorts are; Dustin Funk, Eugene Preslar and Brad White.
Music for the services: “Temporary Home”, “Amazing Grace” and “That’s My Job”. Special music “Still The One” (Sam and Missy’s Song).
Funeral services and interment are under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
