Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 14, 2020 at the Osage Gardens Cemetery with Allen Pond officiating. Interment will follow in the Osage Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.

Sammye K. Pond, age 95, of Skiatook went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, May 9, 2020 at her residence in Skiatook.

Sammye was born April 24, 1925 in Goodwater, Oklahoma to Ed F. and Sallie (McCauley) Keeney. Sammye grew up and received her education in Hayworth where she graduated in 1941. Sammye also attended Women’s Indian College and also attended Central State University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Sammye married Kenneth Melvin Pond on April 27, 1946 making their home in Skiatook since 1971.  Sammye was a teacher for Sapulpa High School and Tulsa Public Schools where she retired after 40 years. Sammye was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Eastern Star.

Sammye was preceded in death by her mother and father, husband Kenneth Melvin Pond, three brothers and daughter-in-law: Louise Pond.

Sammye is survived by her four children: Alesa Lawrence and husband Larry, Allen Pond, Lewis Pond and wife Diana and Clell Pond and wife Theresa, Five grandchildren,  one great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
