Funeral services for Sammie Eugene “Sam” Speakman will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Sperry with Rev. Andy Anquoe of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the A.J. Powell Cemetery in Hominy under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.

Sammie Eugene “Sam” Speakman, age 83, of Skiatook, died at 5:30 a.m. Friday, April 10, 2015 at the Skiatook Nursing Home.

Sam was born May 30, 1931 in Perry, Oklahoma. He grew up and received his education in Burbank, Oklahoma graduating high school in 1949. Sam was drafted into the United States Army in 1951 and received his honorable discharge and retired from the United States Air Force in 1972. Sam married Joan Lopez on November 1, 1952. Sam was employed with the United States Government. Sam was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sperry.
Sam liked to go to rodeos, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

Sam was preceded in death by his mother and father, wife Joan, one daughter Janet Presler,

Sam is survived by his six children:
Curtis Speakman of North Carolina
Danny Speakman of Skiatook
Sammie Speakman Jr. of North Carolina
Dale Speakman of Skiatook,
Julia Quiroz of Sperry and
Vincent Speakman of Germany
Twenty grandchildren, forty nine great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Casket escorts for the services will be:
Wade Presler, Chris Presler, T.J. Teel, Scotty Speakman, Leon Nichols and Willy Presler.

Honorary casket escorts will be:
Joe Bob Teel and Eric Nichols

Funeral services and interment are under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
