Lee never complained but used her faith in God to help her overcome many medical problems during her childhood through her adult years. Her belief in God led her to remark “God is in Control” and, “It Is What It Is.” Through it all, she loved to work and began working at Zebco Company in Tulsa. Eventually, she made her plans to fulfill her dream of working at home. She established her licensed In Home Day care to better provide for her family. She cared for and loved children for over 20 years, in her home which soon became known as Aunt Lee’s Daycare. Many young people still call her Aunt Lee.
Lee was an avid gardener and loved working with flowers in her yard, sharing her plants, with family, neighbors and friends, and how she kept them growing, gave her great joy. She planted her favorite yellow rose bush and shared it when it came into full bloom. Mother’s white rose bush clipping became the inspiration for her yellow rose bush. She had both in her lovely flower garden. It was once said, “she could plant a broom stick and make it grow”.
Lee attended Skiatook Presbyterian Church and provided her loving care to children in the nursery every Sunday morning. She loved camping, boating, and especially fishing. She always included her boys and grandchildren to share in these activities. Her focus was encouraging and supporting her boys in their sports activities. Lee above all loved the Lord, loved her family, her church, her friends, people in general and sunshine.
Lee was preceded in death by her parents, Charles H. and Hazel Ellen Teehee, three brothers: Charles Allen, Lloyd J., and dale C. Teehee. Four sisters: Shala Ruth Tehee, Evelyn Jacobs, Marguerite McClellan and Odessa McCullough. Among her many natural caregiver abilities, Lee was blessed with sharing special times with Bradley’s mother the Late Minnie Thompson. Lee’s sweet and caring personality was always present, even after long work days. She planned and loved her siblings’ get- togethers at her home on week-ends. Saturday nights were for fun scrabble games and sharing their childhood memories. When visitors came during her illness, she still became a sweet and gracious hostess by offering them coffee or tea. Making others comfortable and loved was just who she was.
The family of R. Lee Thompson entrusted her care and services to the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
