Robert Roy Moates Sr.

Graveside services for Robert Moates Sr. will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the Hickory Grove Cemetery in Grove with Pastor Paul Thompson officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.

Robert Roy Moates Sr., age 88, of Claremore, died at 12:25 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2016 at the Claremore Veterans Center in Claremore.

Robert was born March 12, 1928 in Commerce, Oklahoma to Ruben and Eula Mae (Pennington) Moates. Robert grew up and received his education in Commerce. Robert entered into the United States Navy in 1944 at the age of 16with his mother’s consent and served in the Aleutian in World War II and he received his honorable discharge in 1946. Robert married Anna Louise Roller on August 3, 1946 and made their home in Qupaw, Oklahoma. Robert was a welder by trade. Robert liked fishing, hunting and singing gospel music.

Robert was preceded in death by his mother and father, wife Anna, one sister and by one brother.

Robert is survived by his children: Terry Lee Moates and wife Donna, Linda (Rice) Brownell and husband Robert, Tommy Ray Moates and Charletha Holland, Robert Roy Moates Jr. and wife Claudia and Fern Stout and husband Gary, eight grandchildren, numerous great and great -great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
