Memorial services for Robert Kenneth Blankenship will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 16, 2015 at the Calvary Apostolic Church with Rev. John Carol, officiating. Private family interment will be held.
Robert Kenneth Blankenship, age 83, of Skiatook, died at 3:06 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at his Skiatook residence.
Robert was born July 29, 1931 in Salem, Illinois to George and Alta (Thomas) Blankenship. Robert entered into the United States Army February 15, 1950 and received his honorable discharge on September 25, 1953. Robert received the Army of Occupation Medal (Germany), National Defense Service Medal and Korea Defense Purple Heart Pres. Unit Cit. Robert married Cora Elliott on June 15, 1983 in Tulsa and made their home in Glenpool and moved to Skiatook in 1996 where they have made their home since that time. Robert worked for a grocery store, was a professional musician and had the stage name of Bobby Shepherd Country Gentleman and had opened up shows for Bob Hope and worked for Williams Center where he was a security guard for twenty five years.
Robert was preceded in death by his mother- Alta Thomas Shepard Step Father- Victor Shepard
Sister- Betty Blankenship Foy, Brothers-: Ernest Blankenship , Richard Webster, Son- Robert K Blankenship Jr.(Tony).
Robert is survived by his wife; Cora Elliot Blankenship, Step Mother- Mary Blankenship, Siblings- Wanda, Donald, Paul, Carol, Linda, Ruth, Bonnie, CHILDREN-: Teri & Joe , Vanessa & Bobby , Jeana , Nathan, Debora & Randy , Krystal & Tony, GRANCHILDREN 17, GREATGRANDCHILDREN 13, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Music for the services will be; Peace In The Valley, Amazing Grace, Happiness, You Are My Sunshine, You Are So Beautiful, Dream- Dream -Dream, Santa Drives A Truck and For The Good Times.
Cremation and memorial services are under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
