Raymond Carlile Cookson


Raymond Carlile Cookson, age 87, of Tulsa, died at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2013 at ManorCare Health Services in Tulsa, OK.

Raymond was born March 17, 1926 in Cookson, Oklahoma to Levi “Blackie” and Josephine (Keys) Cookson . Raymond was raised in the Cookson area, he enlisted in the U.S . Navy but upon them finding out he had broken his back as a young boy they forced him to take a Medical Discharge, he returned to Oklahoma and started working at Camp Gruber driving a truck. Raymond then moved to California and worked on the aquaducts that supplied water to the Los Angeles area, upon returning to Oklahoma he started driving a taxi, met his future wife through a mutual friend and married Willadean Moody on December 31,1950 in Tulsa. The happy couple settled in Tulsa and started a family. Raymond worked as a Tile Setter for Industrial Tile from 1951-1980 and Causey Reynolds from 1980-1990 Raymond was forced to retire due do health problems.

Raymond is survived by  One daughter; Donna Beth Clark of Tulsa. Three sons; Richard Cookson and spouse Beverly of Skiatook, Allen Cookson of Tulsa; and Reagen Cookson of San Francisco, CA ;Five grandchildren  and six great grandchildren many nieces and nephews, cousins and  a host of friends.

Raymond was preceded in Death by his Parents, his wife and Seven brothers and sisters.
