Opal D. Prather

Funeral services for Opal D. Prather will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016 in the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William Vance, officiating. Interment will follow in the Osage Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.

Opal D. Prather, age 89, of Skiatook, died at 5:20 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the Highlands of Owasso.

Opal was born July 14, 1926 in Avant, Oklahoma to James L. and Patsey L. (Weaver) Smith. Opal married George E. Prather Jr. on September 21, 1946 in Sedan Kansas and they made their home in Skiatook since 1946. Opal attended  Beauty School and graduated in 1963. Opal was a member of the Skiatook Church of God. Opal liked going fishing with her sons when they were younger and meeting long lasting friends through her hair dressing business and gardening with her husband. Opal felt like one of her best accomplishments was being married for fifty-two years and raising her five children.

Opal was preceded in death by her mother and father, husband George, three brothers, one sister and by her daughter Sandra.

Opal is survived by her children: Gayle D. Prather, George E. Prather,  Timothy J. Prather, Bumper E. Prather, and Kelly Sanders, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren one great-great grandchild, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Music for the service will be “When We All Get To Heaven” and “I’ll Fly Away”.

Casket escorts will be:  Butch Kennedy, Brent Prather, Bradley Prather, Bumper Prather, J.R. Prather and Kevin Sanders. Honorary casket escorts will be: Seth Kennedy, Caleb Kennedy, Ethan Kennedy and Trevor Bond.
