Opal Lucille (Newcomb) Hayman

Opal was born March 19, 1931 in Sperry, Oklahoma to Charlie and Ethel (Mathis) Newcomb.

Opal went to be with Jesus November 10, 2024.  She leaves behind two children Mike Hayman and wife Linda, of Skiatook, Pat Marschik and husband Louie of Guthrie, four grandchildren Angela Pregler and husband Matt of Owasso, Brad Hayman and wife Jann of Pawhuska, Heidi Couch and husband Alex of Edmond, and Sydney Fioretti  of Oklahoma City, six great grandchildren, Payten Pregler and Brayden Pregler of Owasso, Blake Hayman and Jacob Floyd Hayman of Pawhuska, Landon Couch and Cade Couch of Edmond.

Opal was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Ethel Newcomb, her husband Floyd Hayman, three brothers, Hugh, Johnie and Walter Rusty Newcomb, three sisters, Millie Latimer, Lorene Anthony and Doris Buck. Opal was the only living sibling for many years.

Opal lived on a large farm and ranch west of Sperry. She could milk a cow when she was 6 years old.  She attended school at Sperry walking a mile to catch the school bus. She worked hard at school always making the honor roll. Opal worked hard on the farm hoeing corn and cotton, helping raise a huge garden and canning 1,000 quarts of fruits and vegetables every year. She learned to cook at a young age and by the time she was 12 she could stay home and cook instead of going to the fields, she loved to cook until the very end. During her school years at Sperry she played basketball and softball through high school and was a big OKC Thunder fan. Opal met her future husband Floyd Hayman at Sperry High School, they were married March 26, 1949 at First Baptist Church of Sperry. Opal was a member of the First Baptist Church and Baptized in Bird Creek on May 13, 1944. After Opal and Floyd were married they lived in Turley in a four room house Floyd's dad, Cecil Floyd Hayman built. Soon after that, Floyd was called up to go to Korea with the 45th, National Guard. Floyd was stationed at Fort Sill and Fort Polk Louisiana where Opal stayed until he left for active duty in Korea. Opal went to work as a bookkeeper at Hanna Lumber Company while Floyd was on active duty. They lived in Turley for 4 years before building a new house in Skiatook. They moved to Tulsa in 1966 when Floyd was in bad health, so he could be closer to his business. Opal liked to fish, camp and travel. She always had a motor home and traveled 46 states, Canada and Mexico. Opal loved doing crafts, cooking and just being a housewife in later years. She had 62 years of a very happy marriage to Floyd and can now be in heaven.

Pallbearers are, Alex Couch, Brad Hayman, Louie Marschik, Bruce Neal, Matt Pregler and Terry Prentice. Honorary pallbearers are, Jamie Hinds, Jim Hinds, Robert Newcomb and Brayden Pregler.

Music selections are, Peace In The Valley, How Great Thou Art, It Is Well With My Soul and Amazing Grace.
