Monty Dale Currier, age 63, of Skiatook, Oklahoma went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Monty was born on October 21, 1961, in Onida, South Dakota to Duane Dale and Monita Marie (McKenney) Currier. He grew up and received his education in Onida and graduated from Sully Buttes High School in 1980. After high school he attended Wyoming Technical Institute in Laramie, Wyoming where he studied diesel mechanics. On November 21, 1981, Monty married LiAnn Renee Nuttall in Onida.
Monty began farming with his Dad in high school and became a mechanic so he could repair the machinery. He went custom harvesting with his father-in-law in 1980 and could never shake his love for the combine after that. He spent his happiest day this summer, while fighting cancer, in the field running combine for a close friend. Heavy equipment diesel mechanic is the trade that he always fell back on while supporting his family, ending his career at Smithey Environmental Services. Monty’s strong work ethic was something that he tried to instill in his kids and those around him.
Monty was a member of First Baptist Church of Skiatook for 27 years. Things Monty loved include farming and anything John Deere, snowmobile riding in his early years, watching parachuters and airplanes across the road from his house, spending time with his kids and grandchildren, and watching OSU & Minnesota Vikings play football. Although, you could often find him checking the backs of his eyelids for holes when he was on the couch. Monty always had a joke to tell, a quick comeback, or a smart remark and a smile on his face. The perfect example of his ornery personality would be how he convinced a coworker for 2 years that he was Hispanic, which he most definitely wasn’t.
Monty was preceded in death by his father Duane Currier; brother Michael Currier; father-in-law Delvin Nuttall; and his grandparents
Monty is survived by his wife of 43 years, LiAnn; children Lexie (Ryan) French, Dakota, Cherokee, River and Tracker; Lindsey (Joel) Eisenhauer, Keelee and Jaxton; Levi (Kristin) Currier, Addison, Kamrynn, Taylor, Braven, Beckham and Knox; Devin (Brittany) Currier, Duncan and Alanna; and Kiley Currier (Tyler Smith), his mother Monita Paulson; sisters Monette (Tom) Clark; Monica (Jeff) Robbins; Misti (Brent) Baumberger; mother-in-law Juanita Nuttall; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made toward a monument for Monty.
