Minnie "Lou" Gourd

Minnie “Lou” Gourd, age 78, of Skiatook went to be with her Lord and Savior at 1:32 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the St. John Medical Center in Tulsa.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2024, in the Sien-Shelton Funeral home Chapel.

Lou was born August 16, 1945, in Okemah, Oklahoma to Emmet and Florence (Wyers) Root. Lou grew up and received her education in Okemah where she graduated in 1963. Lou also attended Tulsa Jr. College. Lou married James Leon Gourd on August 6, 1975, Lake Tahoe, Nevada making their home in Tulsa until moving to Skiatook in 2009 where they have continued to make their home. Lou was employed with Cities Service Company / Occidental Petroleum Company where she was a payroll clerk. Lou was a member of the First Baptist Church.  Lou loved reading, playing solitare, camping and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Emmet and Florence Root, brothers, Wayne and Robert  “Bob” and sister Elgerene.

Lou is survived by her husband of 48 years; James of the home, daughter; Dana Gillean and husband Jeremy Burnes, granddaughter; Ashley Glover and husband Justin, three great grandchildren; Jayzen, Jayley and Jaynik, several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Music selections for the service are “A Beautiful Life” and “Wings of A Dove”. Music selections for the family video also includes “Lord I’m Coming Home” and “Space and Time”.
