Mikel James Hoffman, born on August 9, 1943, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away on April 8, 2025, in Skiatook, Oklahoma. He lived a life marked by dedication, love, and service, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by many.

Mike grew up in Skiatook, where he received his education, graduating with the Class of 1961. He then continued his studies at Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Oklahoma, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. Education was a foundation for Mike, shaping his future roles, including his significant career as the President of the First Bank of Turley.

Mike's commitment to service extended beyond his professional life. He proudly entered the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War, beginning active duty on September 4, 1966, and being honorably discharged on May 26, 1972, where he earned his Bronze Star. His military service reflects a deep sense of duty and patriotism, qualities that defined him throughout his life.

On October 15, 1974, Mike married Martha Jeanette Zodrow, and together they built a strong partnership that lasted for 50 years. Their union was blessed by two children, Mikel Joe and Marla who continue to carry on their dad’s Godly values with their families. Mike took great joy in being a father and later a grandfather to his three grandsons—Cameron, Benjamin, and Connor—who were a source of immense pride and happiness in his life.

Mike was known for his vibrant personality and numerous hobbies. He had a profound love for horses and horse racing, often sharing these passions with his family. His faith was important to him, and he dedicated time to sharing Jesus with those around him. In addition to his time spent on the golf course, Mike valued moments spent with his grandsons, creating cherished memories that will live on in their hearts.

He is survived by his loving wife, Martha, his two children, Mikel Joe Hoffman and his wife Polly, and Marla Jeffries, his three grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends who will remember him fondly. Mike’s parents, Michael and Eunice Hoffman, and his brother Bill Hoffman predeceased him, leaving him with cherished memories of shared love and laughter.

Mike Hoffman’s legacy will undoubtedly resonate within the hearts of all who knew him. His grandson Ben wrote this right after his papaw passed away, I know it's sad, but realize that heaven just got a hell of a cowboy. Also, we have an amazing soldier, father, grandfather, and wrangler to watch over us.

The family of Mike Hoffman entrusted his care and services to the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home Skiatook.
