Funeral services for Michael Dwayne Rhodes will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, September 10, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church in Vinita with Pastor Andrew Haire officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.

Michael Dwayne Rhodes, age 62 of Bartlesville went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, September 6, 2020 in Bartlesville.

Mike was born April 24, 1958 in Jacksonville, North Carolina to Vern and JoAnn (Bousfield) Rhodes. Mikes’ family moved to the Vinita area when he was a young boy and he attended Vinita schools then graduated from White Oak in 1976. In his teenage years Mike enjoyed motorcycle racing with great success. He later moved to Tulsa where he worked for Pepsi and later for Jenks and Union schools as a bus driver. In April 2015 Mike decided he was “tired of chasing the money” and opted for a quieter life and moved back to Vinita. Mike married Robin Cubitt Gulick on December 24, 2015 in Miami, Oklahoma and made their home in Vinita. Mikes last job was working for Vinita schools as a bus driver where he enjoyed all of the students. After Mike’s ALS diagnosis they moved to Bartlesville in February 2020 to be closer to family. Mike enjoyed many hobbies including racing cars, kite flying, hot air balloons, sail boating, collecting model trains and his newest welding. Mike also enjoyed the outdoors where he liked to do yard work, gardening and riding his Harley. Mike was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Vinita. Mike also served his country by serving 6 years in the National Guard.

Mike was preceded in death by his mother; JoAnn and by one brother David.

Mike is survived by his wife Robin; his daughter Jessica Henry, husband Daniel and grandson Corbin, sons; Matthew Rind and Michael Rind, step-daughter; Cristina Rademaker, husband Aaron, grandchildren Kyla Gomez, Tyrell Sien, and Paizleigh Rademaker, step-son; Kyle Sien and wife Tiffany, father; Vern Rhodes and one sister Carrie Adams, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the ALS Foundation or the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Music for the services will be; “Amazing Grace” performed by Pammy Parker and “Praise You In The Storm”. Music for the video will be; “Memories” and “Drowning”.

Pallbearers will be; Daniel Henry, Rick Fenstermacher , Marty Combs, John Daniels, Randy Bussey , Steven Jameson and Blaise Feagan.

The family of Michael Rhodes entrusted his care and services to the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
