Memorial services for Michael Lee “Pappy” Bence Sr. will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Skiatook Free Will Baptist church with Mitch Leonard, officiating. Private family interment will be held under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.

Michael Lee “Pappy” Bence Sr., age 61, of Avant, died at 8:55 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2015 at his sister’s home in Tulsa.

Pappy was born April 19, 1953 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Bud and Vera Lee (Fincher) Bence. Pappy grew up and received his education in Tulsa graduating from McClain High School in 1971. Pappy married Judy Carlton on October 10, 1975. In February of 1992 Pappy met Vickie Weeden and they have made their home in Avant since that time. Pappy was employed with various different company’s where he was a tree trimmer. Pappy had also been employed with Mazzios Pizza where he was a delivery man and had currently been employed with Route 66 Auction. Pappy liked riding motorcycles, playing the fiddle and playing golf.

Pappy was preceded in death by his mother and father and by his stepfather.

Pappy is survived by his wife; Vicki Weeden of the home, six children; Michael Lee Bence II of Oologah, Dustin Carl Bence of Catoosa, Toni Lynn Lohnbakken of Broken Arrow, Robert Weeden of Skiatook, Sherry Holmes of Skiatook and John Weeden of Skiatook, two sisters; Janice Burress of Tulsa, Virginia Patton of Tulsa, one brother; Christopher Adolph of Jenks, ten grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Music for the services will be; “If You Could See Where I Am” and “Lord Don’t Move That Mountain” performed by Clarence and Willie Ashlock and “Everybody Will Be Happy Over There” performed by the congregation.

Cremation and memorial services are under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
