MELVIN LEROY HENDRIX

Melvin Leroy Hendrix was born at his home in Okmulgee County, Oklahoma on December 16, 1947.  His parents were Albert B and Rose E. Hendrix.  He passed from this life on Sept. 15, 2016 at 2 PM in the North County Nursing Home in Collinsville, OK.  He had been ill for about two months.

Leroy grew up in the Bald Hill community in Okmulgee County, OK.  He attended Twin Hills grade school, Preston High School then moved to Barnsdall, OK.  He graduated from Barnsdall High School.  Leroy moved from Barnsdall back to Okmulgee where he met and married Sherry Anne Shieley on June 11, 1980.  While Sherry was alive were the happiest days of his life.  She passed away in Oct. 1997.

Leroy worked at several different jobs.  He worked at a grocery store in Barnsdall in his youth.  He worked at a manufacturing plant in Tulsa.  He drove a bus for Tulsa Public Schools.  He also worked for Fadler Food Distribution Co for around 20 years.  Leroy moved from Tulsa to Skiatook and lived at the West Oak Village Apartments for around 5 years.

Leroy attended several of the Skiatook Churches.  He enjoyed Christian music and the company of family and friends.   He also enjoyed fishing and going to the ball games with his friends.

He was proceeded in death by:

his wife, Sherry Anne Hendrix

his parents, Albert B. and Rose E. Hendrix

He is also survived by:

two brothers, Rev. Evert B. Hendrix of Skiatook, OK  and Jonny L. Hendrix of Federal Way, WA

He leaves behind nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
