Funeral services for Mary Evelyn Bennett will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Collinsville, with Dr. Tim Prock officiating.  Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Celestial Gardens Cemetery in Cyril, Oklahoma.

Mary Evelyn Bennett, age 83, of Skiatook, passed away Monday, June 30, 2014 at the Oklahoma Baptist Village in Owasso, OK.

Evelyn was born on September 3, 1930 to Charles Foster and Jessie Cora (Pillow) Fillingham.  She grew up and received her education in Harrison, Arkansas.  She married Eugene Burl Bennett on July 15, 1951 and moved to Alfafa, OK.  After she completed her college degree at Weatherford, OK., she began her teaching career in 1962 at Cyril, OK., where she raised their two daughters.  They moved to a farm south of Elgin, OK., where they enjoyed raising cattle and gardening.  She retired from Cyril Elementary after teaching 29 years and will be remembered for her love for children. After Eugene’s death in 1994 she moved to the Collinsville-Skiatook area to be closer to her daughters.

She is survived by her two daughters: Donna Carol Butler of Sapulpa and Reba Gale Caldwell of Skiatook, one brother: Eddie Fillingham of Harrison, AR., three sisters: Marion Cox of Bryant, AR., June Fillingham of Kansas City, KS., and Betty Lou Tucker of Jet, OK., three grandsons, two great-grandsons and six great-granddaughters and a host of other relatives and friends.

Music selections for the service were: Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art and Where The Roses Never Fade.

Casket escorts for the service were: Myron Butler, Devan Thomas, Brian Butler, Landon Butler, Casey Caldwell and Robert Dale Scouton.


Funeral services and interment were under the directions of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home
