Funeral services for Marion Burkhalter will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at the Osage Gardens Cemetery with Pastor Jerald Freeman of the Ascension Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Osage Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Shelton Funeral Home.

Marion Burkhalter, age 91, of Skiatook, died at 7:59 a.m. Monday, November 24, 2014 at the Claremore Veterans Center.

Marion was born September 15, 1923 in Gordo, Alabama to Joseph Evalcus and Bobbie Lois (Ballard) Burkhalter. Marion grew up and received his education in Gordo, Alabama where he graduated from High School. Marion entered into the United States Army on July 24, 1943 and received his honorable discharge on February 28, 1946. Marion served in World War II and he was a part of D-Day. Marion married Lillian Lorene Qualls on September 1, 1952 in Mississippi and they made their home in Oklahoma City, New Jersey, Illinois, Kansas and moved to Skiatook area in 1977.  Marion was a member of the Ascension Church.

Marion was preceded in death by his mother and father, wife; Lillian, eight brothers, two sisters of which one was his twin,

Marion is survived by his daughter; Ginger L’Ecuyer and one son Harry Burkhalter, eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services and interment are under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
