Margaret Louise McKay, affectionately known as Margie to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2024, in Skiatook, Oklahoma. Born on May 11, 1953, in Lone Grove, Oklahoma, to Luther Virgil and Viola Marie (Gable) Geurin, Margie's warm smile and generous spirit were a gift to all throughout her 71 years of life. Margie's journey began in the close-knit community of Lone Grove, where she grew up and received her education in Lone Grove and Owasso after moving there. It was in the springtime of her life, in May of 1969, that she married the love of her life, Ronald Louie McKay, in Texas. The couple made their home in Skiatook since 1973, where they built a life filled with love and laughter. Margie's dedication to her family was unwavering, and she embraced every moment with them. Professionally, Margie was known for her hardworking and diligent nature. For 45 years, she served the community through her employment at Skiatook Wal-Mart, where she was honored for her exceptional service, retiring on November 24, 2024. Her colleagues remember her as a beacon of positivity, always ready with a helping hand or an encouraging word. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Margie was a cherished member of the Restoration Church in Skiatook. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she lived it out through acts of kindness and her commitment to her church family. Margie's zest for life was apparent in her many interests. She was an avid fisherwoman, often found by the water's edge, rod in hand, waiting for the next big catch. Bird watching brought her immense joy, as she marveled at the beauty and grace of nature's aviators. In the kitchen, Margie's culinary skills shone, and family gatherings were always a treat with her delicious home-cooked meals.
Margie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald Louie McKay; her precious grandson, Adam DeWayne McKay; her parents, Luther Virgil Geurin and Viola Marie Geurin Buller; her sister, Kathleen Evelyn Geurin; and her brother, Howard Ray Geurin.
While Margie's presence on this earth will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on through her loving family. She is survived by her devoted son, DeWayne McKay and his wife Loretta; her bonus children, Robert Joe McKay and wife Valorie, Gloria Ann Parker and husband Eugene, and Melissa Ann Collings and husband Chris; her cherished granddaughter, Haley McKay; her brother, Virgil Eugene Geurin and wife Shirley, and sister, Helen Marie Milligan. Her life was also enriched by several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
Margie's life was a tapestry of love, service, and joy. Her memory will be treasured in the hearts of those who knew her, as a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we celebrate the indelible mark she left on the world. Margie's laughter, kindness, and love will continue to echo through the stories shared by her family and friends, keeping her spirit alive for generations to come.
