Funeral services for LaVerne Westmoland Ragan will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday in the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home Chapel  with Rev. Monte Lovvorn and Guy Westmorland, presiding. Interment followed in the Osage Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.

LaVerne Westmoland Ragan, age 88, died at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at her Skiatook residence.

LaVerne was born August 3o, 1925 in Prairie View, Oklahoma to John Mansfield and Ruby Earl (Sanford) Westmoland. LaVerne grew up and received her education in McClish High School. In 1941 the minister from the First Assembly of God church called and told John he needed him to move him and his family to Skiatook so he could be the minister of music, so the Westmoland family moved to Skitook.  In 1996 LaVerne went to school with two of her grandchildren and received her G.E.D.. LaVerne married Vernon Charles Ragan on December 24, 1948 in Skiatook where she had made her home since that time. LaVerne went to work for Douglas during the war where she was a drill press operator. LaVerne had also worked for Dorsett Electronics as a silkscreen operator and retired in 1975. LaVerne also received her realtors licenses in 1983. LaVerne liked t o go fishing, play the piano, singing and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

LaVerne was preceded in death by her mother and father, husband, one son; Mike Ragan, seven brothers and sisters: Thomas Westmoland, Hazel Westfall, Mildred Davis, Johnnie Westmoland, Wayne Westmoland, Wilma Eller and Ruble Cooper and by one grandson; Paul Perkins.

LaVerne is survived by her two daughters; Wendy K. Whittle and husband Terry of Skiatook and Rhonda Willis and husband Dan also of Skiatook, three brothers; Ned Westmoland, Ted Westmoland and Billy Westmoland, a multitude of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great - great grandchildren , several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Music for the services was provided by the Westmoland Singers and friends and great grandson Will Waller.

Casket escorts for the services are: Kyle Willis, Mike Juby, Mark Juby, Steven Willis, Sean Willis, Bill Waller, Richard Akin and Louden Akin.
