Kenneth Melvin Pond

Funeral services for Kenneth Melvin Pond will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2017 in the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dale Nielsen, officiating. Interment will follow in the Osage Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.

Kenneth Melvin Pond, age 90, of Skiatook, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the Hillcrest Hospital South in Tulsa.

Kenneth was born April 30, 1926 in Waterloo, Oklahoma to Kenneth Ray and Katherine (Baker) Pond. He grew up and received his education in Edmond graduating in 1942. Kenneth also attended Central State University. Kenneth married Sammye K. Keeney on April 27, 1946. They made their home in Skiatook since 1971. Kenneth was a postal carrier retiring after thirty years of service. Kenneth liked to read, study history and listen to Western Swing Music. Kenneth was a member  and Past Master of the Skiatook Masonic Lodge and the Eastern Star and was of the Baptist Faith.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his mother and father, one sister: Jean Keeney and daughter-in-law: Louise Pond.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Sammye, four children: Alesa Lawrence and husband Larry of Ponca City, Allen Pond of Sand Springs, Lewis Pond and wife Diana of Sand Springs and Clell Pond and wife Theresa of Broken Arrow, five grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family of Kenneth Melvin Pond entrusted his care and services to Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
