Josie Ivins Townley, 80, left this world on June 9, 2016 in Owasso. Born in southern Oklahoma on June 19, 1935 to Luther Claude and Mable Maybelle (Davis) Ivins, Josie's family moved to Las Cruces, NM in her early years. This would eventually lead to her meeting the Army man she would marry. She became Mrs. J.W. Townley on March 18, 1955 and for the next 55 years they made a life together, before he passed and she was forced to continue on without him.
During those 55 years, Josie made a home for not only her and her husband, but four kids and the grandkids that came along the way during that time. Also, she would find herself helping with cattle around the 10 acres just ouside of Ramona, that the Townley's made their home, in 1970.
Her years on this earth were filled with hardwork, laughter, and most of all, LOVE. Her signature way of showing and spreading that love was making quilts. For years she hand stitched every quilt and filled every stitch with love and gave them as gifts. She spread love everywhere she went and anyone that knew her knew her laugh, her smile, and she left a little piece of her with everyone she met.
Josie was preceded in death by her mother and father, husband and by one sister.
All of those attributes are continued thru her brothers Elmer, Marvin, and Johnny Lindel Ivins; her son J.J (wife Deborah), three daughters: Yolanda Rice, Yovanda (husband Dean) Browning, and Kathleen Herman (fiancé Dale Winklepleck) ; her grandchildren: Ben (wife Elaina) Kirk, Crash (wife April) Shepard, Heather Wofford-Rhodes, Dustin Browning, Greg Herman (fiancé Megan Miller;) and her great-grandchildren: Tino and Vega Kirk, Hunter Shepard, Brantley Miller, and David Wofford.
Music for the services will be: “Amazing Grace”, “If There Was A Phone In Heaven” and “In The Sweet Bye and Bye”.
Casket escorts for the services will be: Ben Kirk, Dean Browning, Dustin Browning, Greg Herman, Crash Shepard and JJ Townley.
The family of Josie Ivins Townley has entrusted Sien-Shelton Funeral Home with her care and services.
