Funeral services for Johnnie Orval Martin Sr. will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 9, 2023 at the First Baptist Church (West Rogers Campus) with Rev. Chad Thompson and Rev. Dale Nielsen, officiating. Private family interment will be held in the Osage Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
Johnnie Orval Martin Sr., age 87, of Skiatook went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, December 1, 2023 at his Skiatook residence.
Johnnie was born July 5, 1936 in Willow Springs, Missouri to Orval Laverne and Ora Adeline ( Cobb) Martin. Johnnie grew up and received his education in Missouri where he graduated from Central High School in Springfield, Missouri. Johnnie married Laquanita Jane Lloyd on September 11, 1959 in Turley making their home in Turley, Tulsa and moved to Skiatook in 1967 where they had continued to make their home. Johnnie was a Heavy Equipment Machinist where he built machines for oilfield equipment suppliers. Johnnie loved to go fishing, camping, hiking, woodworking and drag racing. It’s been noted that Johnnie was on main street in Skiatook and a guy gave him the nod while at a stoplight and Johnnie thought he was wanting to race so Johnnie floored it. Johnnie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Skiatook.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents; Orval and Ora Martin, wife; Laquanita Martin and by one brother; Ronald Eugene Martin.
Johnnie is survived by his children; John Orval Martin Jr. and Susan Marie Goodman and husband Tony, sisters; Barbara Harrison and Marlane Nail, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Music for the services will be; “Our God Reigns” and “He Lives’. Music for the family video will be; “Count Your Blessings” and “How Great Thou Art”. Special Music; “Big John”.
Pallbearers will be; John Martin Jr., Austin Martin, Tyler Martin, Clayton Gilberg, Tony Goodman, Nathaniel Martin, Parker Martin and Scott Harrison.
The family of Johnnie Martin entrusted his care and services to the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
