Funeral services for John B. Lawson will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2017 in the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Elbert Rogers and C.H. Whiteman, presiding. Interment will follow in the Osage Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.

John “Bud” Lawson, age 90, of Skiatook, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 4:13 a.m. at the St. John Medical Center in Owasso.

Bud was born May 9, 1926 in Three Sands, Oklahoma to Mary Elizabeth Petr and John B. Lawson Sr.. Bud grew up and received his education in Skiatook graduating with the class of 1944. Bud married Betty Lou Vickrey on March 7, 1952 in Skiatook making their home in Drumright and Skiatook. Bud entered into the United States Army in 1950 and received his honorable discharge in 1953. Bud was an oilfield mechanic for Sun Oil / Lamamco for over fifty years until his retirement. Bud was baptized January 6, 1990. Bud was a member of the Remnant Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints in Sperry  and the American Legion.

Bud was preceded in death by his mother and father, wife Betty, stepmother: Bess, one brother: Bill Lawson, two sisters: Margie Blackwell and Mary Wilson, step sister: Jane Lee Strong and by grandson Joshua Powers.

Bud is survived by his four children: Patricia Powers, Karen Miller, Joyce Van Meter and Richard Lawson, two brothers: Vincent Lawson and Edwin Lawson, eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Music for the services will be: “Amazing Grace: and “How Great Thou Art”

Casket escorts for the services will be: Michael Powers, Johnathan Powers, Stephen Miller, Paul Van Meter, Kyle Guffey, Trent Lewis, Trevor Lewis and Travis Lewis.

The family of John B. Lawson Jr. entrusted his care and services to Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
