Funeral services for Joan Mae Speakman will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Sperry with Rev. Andy Anquoe, officiating. Interment will follow in the A.J. Powell Cemetery in Hominy under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.

Joan Mae Speakman, age 85, of Skiatook, died at 4:35 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2013 at the Skiatook Nursing Home.

Joan was born May 16, 1928 in Belleville, Illinois to Benson and Julian Lopez. Joan and grew up ad received her education in Belleville, Illinois graduating in 1946. Joan married Sammie Eugene Speakman November 1, 1952. Joan was employed as a bank teller, stewardess and was a homemaker of the home. Joan liked to knit, sew and canning. Joan was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sperry.

Joan was preceded in death by her mother and father, two sisters, four brothers and by one daughter; Janet Presler.

Joan is survived by her husband; Sammie of the home, six children; Curtis Speakman of North Caarolina, Danny Speakman of Skiatook, Sammie Speakman Jr. of North Carolina, Dale Speakman of Skiatook, Julia Quiroz of Sperry and Vincent Speakman of Germany, twenty grandchildren, forty seven great grandchildren several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Music for the services are congregational hymns; “Amazing Grace” and “Softly and Tenderly”.

Casket escorts for the services are; Wade Presler, Chris Presler, T.J. Teel, Scotty Speakman, Leon Nichols and Willy Presler. Honorary casket escorts are; Joe Bob Teel and Eric Nichols.


Funeral services and interment are under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
