Funeral services for Jimmy Dale Roberts were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2012 in the Skiatook High School Auditorium with Mike Hoffman and Kenny Jones, officiating. Interment followed in the Osage Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
Jimmy Dale Roberts, age 74, of Skiatook, died Sunday, May 6, 2012 at 5:52 p.m. in Talala in an auto accident.
Jimmy Dale Roberts was born June 9, 1937 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas to James C. and Loyce Jane (Johnson) Roberts. Jimmy graduated high school in 1955 from Central High School. Jimmy went to Kansas State on a wrestling scholarship and graduated from their in 1959 with a Bachelors Degree. Jimmy also attended Real Estate School and Tulsa Business School. Jimmy served in the United States Air National Guard where he was a fireman. Jimmy also was a volunteer fireman in Manhattan. Jimmy married Vicki Campbell on February 2, 1968 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas and the y made their home in Sperry and moved to Skiatook in 1989. Jimmy owned and operated Roberts Real Estate Investments in Sperry and Skiatook since the early 1970’s. Jimmy started the first wrestling program in Sperry and their first year they won the State Championship. Jimmy was a member of the Kansas State Alumni, Builders Association, Skiatook Chamber Of Commerce, Oklahoma Coach’s Association.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father J.C. Roberts, wife; Vicki Roberts, one son; Jason Roberts.
Jimmy is survived by his daughter; Keena Roberts of Skiatook, his mother; Loyce Roberts of Skiatook, three sisters; Phyllis Mattison of Manford, Jo Ella Gourd of Skiatook and Donna Cheryl Jones of Sperry, fiancé Linda Loftis, five grandchildren; Grayson, Libby, Gabby, Ari and Jerrick, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Casket escorts for the services were; Kevin Cooper, Billy Frohnapfel, Rod Hunt, Scott Hilton, Tom Harris, Dennis Lenox, Chuck Stillwell and Billy Monsun. Honorary casket escorts were; Lloyd Hicks, Lloyd Garrison, Bob Cullison, Tom Woods, Rick Akin, Larry Parks, Doug Pavey and Michael Joe Hoffman.
Music for the services was; “Amazing Grace My Chains Are Gone” performed by; Mallory Sawin.
Funeral services and interment were under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
