Jimmy Dale Nelson

Jimmy Dale Nelson was born on August 23, 1947 in Atoka, Oklahoma to Glenn Henry and Mary Mae (Osborne) Nelson.

Jimmy started school in Midland, Texas and later attended grade schools in Ardmore, Oklahoma and Reese, Kansas. He was a cub scout during that time.  When his family moved to Skiatook, he joined the Skiatook Methodist Church and became an active member of the MYF the church youth group. During school in Skiatook, Jimmy served as an officer in the Future Farmers of America where he received many prizes and awards for showing cattle and hogs. He graduated from Skiatook High School in 1965 and went on to Okmulgee Tech before joining the U S Navy in 1966 for four years.  While in the Navy, he spent two years aboard the USS Hancock, an aircraft carrier, where he really enjoyed his time serving on the flight deck's Fire and Rescue Crew.  After the Navy, he studied at Spartan School Of Aeronautics. He worked on the Alaskan pipeline, as well as, at Globe X-Ray and Trinity Industries.

Jimmy married Sandra Rush and lived in Skiatook before moving to Blanchard, Oklahoma. They had one daughter, Cassie Dawn Nelson Easky. Jimmy and Cassie moved to Collinsville, Oklahoma and then to Skiatook where he lived the remainder of his life.

He is survived by his father and mother of Skiatook, sister Glenda Guilfoyle and her husband George of Skiatook, grandson Dakota Warren Nelson of Oakhurst ,Texas and granddaughter Shelby Dawn Easky of Tulsa, Oklahoma, nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. He is also survived by his dog, JJ.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his daughter, Cassie, brother, Johnny Glenn Nelson and niece, Kristi Ann Conley.

In his younger years, Jimmy enjoyed riding his motorcycle and water skiing. He always loved swimming, fishing, camping and playing his guitar.  He donated blood at the American Red Cross quite often.  He really enjoyed living on his land with JJ, where he could raise cattle, fish and watch animals like the deer and wild turkeys - he especially liked watching and feeding the birds. He used his smoker to cook whole hogs and a variety of meats to entertain many guests.  He loved having his family and friends come over to enjoy delicious meals, good music and fun get-to-together's.
