Jesper Franklin Gosney
Funeral services for Jesper Franklin Gosney will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the United Methodist Church -Avant with Rev. Earleen Reedy and Rev. Raymond Henson, officiating. Interment will follow in the Osage Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
Jesper Franklin Gosney, age 89, of Avant, died at 12:45 p.m. Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the St. John medical center in Tulsa after a sudden illness.
Jesper was born January 2, 1924 in Avant, Oklahoma to John Blain and Hattie Dyer (Peterson) Gosney. Jesper grew up and received his education in Avant graduating from high school in 1942. Jesper entered into the United States Army Air Core in 1942 and flew over 30 combats when his plane was shot down and was held prisoner of war for nearly 6 months. Jesper received his honorable discharge in 1945. Jesper married Beatrice Elizabeth Sains on December 8, 1947 in Sperry and have made their home in Avant since that time. Jesper was a machinist for Petro lite in Barnsdall retirng after 30 years of service. Jesper liked to hunt and fish.
Jesper was preceded in death by his mother and father, three brothers and by two sisters.
Jesper is survived by his wife Bea of the home, two son’s: Steven Gosney and wife Janita of Watova and Randy S. Gosney and wife Lisa of Avant, four grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Music for the services: “I’ll Fly Away” and “Do Lord” performed by the Kings sisters.
Casket escorts for the services are: Greg Crutchfield, Glenn Gentry, Russell Gott, Clyde Smith, Johnny Sizemore, Elton Flatt, Mike Jolley and Howard Martin.
Funeral services and interment are under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
