Janet Avon Neitzel Newton-September 1, 1939-September 13, 2023

Janet was full of energy and adventure and always ready to go. No one can deny she was her own individual. Growing up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin she secretly bought and boarded a horse for 2 years before confessing to her parents at the age of 16. She was also a sweet handful when visiting her grandparents rural farm and dairy while playing with her older boy cousins.

Marrying Tom Newton of Kellyville, Oklahoma while he was in the army, moving to Oklahoma added to her adventures. Which brought on quite a culture shock which she took on with her usual great attitude. They eventually settled west of Owasso on a dirt road with their infant daughter.

Just before daughter Bambi started kindergarten they began a feed and western store becoming a local icon for the country people for over 50 years.

She roped cattle with the guys, hauled 100lb feed sacks and was a joy to be around. She sent the husband on his way, raising her daughter with little to no help defying the times norm of what a woman could do. Especially in the business world.

Janet loved buying for her store, seeing the sights near and far. She loved fishing, camping, spelunking, hiking, and flying. Hurley Boehler (a life long pilot) was her best friend, who spoiled her immensely, for over 20 years until his own health issues took over.

She is deeply loved and will be missed by her daughter Bambi, grandson Tyler, his wife Lindsay and great grandsons Sawyer and Gus.

No Services are planned at this time, though a pot luck may be held at her store in the future where all will be welcome.
