James Richard “Jim” Shephard

Funeral services for James Richard “Jim” Shephard will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at the Skiatook Freewill Baptist church with Rev. Mitchell Leonard, officiating. Interment will follow in the Osage Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.

James Richard “Jim” Shephard, age 72, of Skiatook, died at 9:20 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2014 at the Brentwood Nursing Home in Muskogee.

Jim was born December 5, 1941 in Costa Mesa, California to James Lee and Eva Leah (Towers) Shephard. Jim grew up and received his education in California graduating from high school in 1959. Jim attended Tech School for auto mechanics. Jim married Bonita Louise Mixon on March 17, 1966 in Clinton, Oklahoma and they made their home in California, Louisiana, and moved to Skiatook in 1993. Jim was employed with Byers and the Town of Skiatook where he was an auto mechanic. Jim was a member of the Skiatook Freewill Baptist Church. Jim liked fishing, working on cars, liked boats and watching westerns.

Jim was preceded in death by his mother and father, wife, one daughter, one brother, one sister and by two nephews.

Jim is survived by his children: Cindy Salcido of Claremore, Eva Duncan of Manford and Aaron Shephard of Corpus Christi, Texas, nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Casket escorts for the services are: Anthony Aynes, Sam Turpin, Joshua Lee Duncan, Aaron Shephard and Roger Duncan.

Music for the services: “Ten Thousand Reasons” and “I Still Miss Someone”.


Funeral services and cremation are under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
