Funeral services for James Oscar Anthony Jr. Will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2017 in the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Berry Gott, officiating. Interment will follow in the Osage Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
James Oscar “Jr” Anthony, age 83, of Avant, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017 in Tulsa.
James Oscar Anthony Jr, was born on March 8, 1933 in Avant, Oklahoma to James Oscar and Mary Rosanna (Carter) Anthony. Jr grew up and received his education in Avant graduating in 1951 and had also attended Northern Oklahoma College in Enid, Oklahoma. Jr entered into the United States Army in 1955 and received his honorable discharge in 1957. Jr married Anna Mae (Morris) on November 6, 1987. Jr worked for Linde out of Port of Catoosa as a pipefitter for many years before retiring in 2008 at the age of 75. In his spare time he also enjoyed gardening, growing the tastiest tomatoes, okra, peppers and whatever else he thought of. Jr had worked for various jobs in oilfields, National Tanker until they closed and Linde (Pro-Quip) till 2008.
Jr. was preceded in death by his mother and father, wife: Anna Mae Anthony, brothers and sisters: Marion Eldon Anthony, Grover A. Anthony, Alta C. Martin, Louise Charter and Ada Mae Collins.
Jr will be greatly loved and missed by his granddaughter Janna McDade and husband George, their daughters: Amanda, Aubrey and Autumn, his grandson: Michael White and his daughter: Joslynn, stepchildren: Jim Swalley and wife Kristy of Copan, and their family Hellen Gilbert, husband John of Sulphur Springs, Texas, his sister: Dee Brown of Fritch, Texas, his many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Jr loved his Lord, really enjoyed hearing the word, listening to the greatest sing the best gospel. He loved his sports everything from football to basketball, baseball to boxing, professional to college.
Music for the services will be: “A Picture Of Me” and “The Holy Hills Of Heaven”
Casket escorts for the services will be: George McDade, Michael White, George Pease, Claude Brown Jr, Phil Anthony and Jim Swalley.
The family of James Oscar Anthony Jr. entrusted his care and services to Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
