Helen Marie (Vaughn) Okerson

Helen Marie Okerson, age 82, of Skiatook, died 11:29 p.m. Thursday, May 12,  2016  at the St. John Medical Center in Tulsa.

Marie was born April 14, 1934 in Skiatook, Oklahoma to Leslie Leo and Minnie Ellen (Nail) Vaughn. Marie grew up and received her education in Skiatook graduating in 1952. Marie had also received her associates degree in business. Marie married George Ray Okerson on January 31, 1953 in Sperry, Oklahoma and they have made their home in Skiatook most their married life. Marie was employed with Tulsa federal Credit Union, Postal credit Union and for Rutherford Publications/Skiatook Journal where she was an office manager and retired in 2001. Marie liked to crochet, embroidery and make cakes. Marie had attended the First Baptist Church and the Presbyterian Church.

Marie was preceded in death by her mother and father, one sister, one brother, oldest son David Ray Okerson, her youngest son John Leslie Okerson and by four grandchildren.

Marie is survived by her husband George of the home, five children: Beverly Dashkovitz, Susan Wheeler, Rajena Huckbone, Brian Karl Okerson and Ronald Eugene Okerson, twenty six grandchildren, fourty six great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Cremation services are under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
