Helen Pauline Johnson passed away peacefully on January 4, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 97. Born on March 14, 1927, to Melvin and Edith (Hancock) Bell, Helen's life was one marked by love, hard work and a never give up attitude.

Her heart found its match when she married Fred E. Johnson, on August 27, 1945. An adventure to Oregon to pick fruit was a story they often talked about. When they returned to Turley they built their first house. In 1950, they moved to rural Talala where they cleared an overgrown pecan grove, farmed and raised cattle .  In 1954 they moved to Tulsa where their daughter Peggy was born. In a few years, Helen began working for Tri-State Insurance.  She later worked for First National Bank and Sun-Ray DX. In the spring of 1967, Helen and Fred began building their second house on the farm and she lived there until 2020.  Helen was a devoted rancher, housewife and mother, roles in which she took great pride and joy.

Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fred Johnson, her parents, her four sisters, Mary Marie Bell, Bernice Gifford, Dorothy Williams, and Esther Driskell, and her son-in-law, Nathan Rider. Her memory will be carried forward by her loving daughter, Peggy Rider, grandchildren, Chris Rider, Toby Rider, and Brandy Shaver, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Throughout her life, Helen's hands were rarely still.  She believed there was always work to be done.  When she took time to rest and relax,  she found contentment in the pages of a good book or the challenge of a word search. She enjoyed spending time with family. Her legacy is one of perseverance, determination and toughness.

As we bid farewell to Helen Pauline Johnson, we celebrate a life well-lived. Her story does not end with her passing, for the love she shared and the life she built will resonate for generations to come. She has left behind a family that adores her and memories that will be cherished for a lifetime. Rest in peace.
