Harold "Sammy Kaye" Carlile

Harold Alva “Sammy Kaye” Carlile was born on December 11, 1940 in Pawhuska, OK and was the second child of Harold Emreld (Sam) and Mary Ann (Sweeden) Carlile.  He spent most of his early years growing up in Pawhuska, OK and he graduated high school from Bartlesville, OK.  After high school, he worked several jobs in the Bartlesville area before joining the United States Air Force where he spent time in Texas and Hawaii and was later stationed at Andersen Airforce Base in Guam during the Vietnam conflict where he was a crew chief and performed heavy maintenance on KC135’s, B52’s and B58’s. He also did contract work for NASA during this time. After his deployment, he returned to the Ft Worth area where he met and married Mary Lee Farner on August 12, 1967.  He later located to the Skiatook, OK area where he was employed for over 25 years as a Pratt and Whitney Turbofan mechanic and crew chief at the American Airlines maintenance base in Tulsa.  He also coached baseball for the American Legion for a short time and worked a second job for many years for a hobby as a certified Whirlpool appliance technician for the Skiatook area.  The 1990’s brought change as he retired from American Airlines and married Minnie Lee Priest.  They made their home on a small farm in the Sperry Area for many years before moving back to the Skiatook area. He enjoyed playing and watching golf, traveling, fishing, drinking Dr. Pepper and spending time telling stories of the past with the large extended Sweeden family, and being at home with his closer family.

Harold is survived by Wife, Minnie Lee Carlile of almost 30 years, of the home, His daughter Sherri, Her Husband Billy Barnes and family, Son Sammy and his wife Deidra and family, Step son Eric Priest, his wife Cindy and family, Step son Mark Priest and his wife Robin and their family, Many grandchildren, several great grandchildren, a great great grandson and lots and lots of extended family that thought the world of him.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Lee Carlile, one daughter Samantha Carlile, one grandson Alec Carlile, his great grandson Lakoda Barnes, his mother and father and many very close relatives.

Honorary Pall Bearers are Samuel Carlile, Bryson Carlile, Dakota Barnes, Joseph Barnes, Darrin Priest, Dennis, Simon and Floyd Carlisle.
