Glenn Henry Nelson, age 94, of Skiatook went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, June 21, 2021 at his Skiatook residence.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 23 at Sien Shelton Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Susan Whitley and Rev. Sarah Thornhill officiating. Interment will follow in the Osage Gardens Cemetery.

Glenn was born January 1, 1927 in Clarita, Oklahoma to John Melmer Nelson and Helen (Lasater) Nelson. He grew up and received his education in Clarita where he graduated with the Class of 1945. Glenn served in the United States Army in 1945 and 1946.

Glenn married the love of his life, Mary Mae Osborne on October 15, 1946 in Ada, Oklahoma.  They made their home in California, Texas, Kansas and Oklahoma.  They have lived in Skiatook for 52 years. Glenn was employed as a farmer, worked for Union Gas Company, Superior Oil Company, and the Town of Skiatook as a Police Officer. He was also a welder for Trinity Industries where he retired in 1990 as the Plant Manager. After retirement, he worked at Skiatook Nursing Home and Skiatook First United Methodist Church.  Glenn was an active member of the First United Methodist Church. He loved gardening, fishing, and woodworking. He also was a proud supporter and encourager of his children and grandchildren in their sports and other activities. He was the chief builder of his and Mary’s home, as well as George and Glenda’s home with the help of family. Glenn will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; John and Helen Nelson, three brothers; Sam, Doyle and Floyd Nelson, two sisters; Lorene Denson Olin and Maurine Arnold, two children; Jimmy Dale Nelson and Johnny Glenn Nelson, two grandchildren; Kristi Conley and Cassie Nelson-Easky, and one great-great grandson; Case Stanton.

Glenn is survived by his wife of 74 years, Mary Nelson; daughter, Glenda Guilfoyle and her husband George; sister, Ellaree George; four grandchildren, Joey Nelson, Amy Ayres and her husband David, Alisa Hettich and her husband Tyler, Hank Guilfoyle and his wife Shelley, sixteen great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Music for the services will be performed by Taylor Conley and Hope Bradford:  How Great Thou Art, Stroll Over Heaven, and I’ll Fly Away.

Pallbearers for the services are:  Joey Nelson, Hank Guilfoyle, David Ayres, Tyler Hettich, Taylor Conley and Kyler Ayres. Honorary Pallbearers are:  George Guilfoyle, Austin Osborne, Chuck Allred, Burl Forbes, Earl Harrison and the Upper Room Sunday School Class taught by Dick Allen.

The family of Glenn Nelson entrusted his care and services to Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
