Funeral services for Glenda Chastain will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday August 5, 2020 at the Osage Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Earleen Reedy officiating.

Glenda Lee (Cricket) Chastain passed away on August 1, 2020 at the Barnsdall Nursing Home at the age of 89 years. She was born at the family home in Barnsdall, Oklahoma on June 5, 1931, the first child of Earnest (Pete) and Sylvia (Clark) Branstetter. She attended Barnsdall schools. While working at Blevins Arcade in Barnsdall she met her future husband J.L. Chastain of Avant. They were married in Miami, Oklahoma on August 18, 1952 and made their first home in Avant. They eventually moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma and started their family of three boys. She was a stay-at-home mom and spent many days sitting in bleachers at sports events and attending boy scout meetings and enjoyed it all. After retirement they moved back to Avant where she volunteered to help cook for the Senior Citizens Center for many years. She was also a member of the Avant Methodist Church for 34 years. In September of 2010 her life’s circle was completed when she came back to her home town of Barnsdall and entered the Barnsdall Nursing Home. Although she could be very bossy at times she thought very much of, and appreciated, the many men and women who helped with her care over the years. Her only regret was they would not let her in the kitchen to help cook. Glenda, or Cricket as she was fondly known by all her life, is survived by her three sons James (Jackie) Chastain, Stanley Chastain, and Jeff Chastain. She is also survived by six grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, Danny (Verla) Branstetter, Joe (Janice) Branstetter, and Stephen (JoEllen) Branstetter and seven sisters, Patsy Moore, Dorothy (J.A.) Murrie, Dovie (Bill) Henry, Joyce Swan, Sylvia Raney, Janie Price and Diana (Jack) Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 37 years, J.L. Chastain, and one brother William (Billy) Branstetter.

Pallbearers for the service will be: Jim Chastain, Stanley Chastain, Jeffery Chastain, Donnie Chastain, Derrick Chastain, and Justin Chastain.
