George Ray Okerson
George Okerson, age 87, of Skiatook, Oklahoma went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Jack C. Montgomery VA Center in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
George was born July 21, 1934 in Avant, Oklahoma to John Lester and Ruth (Brantley) Okerson. He grew up and received his education in Avant and graduated high school in 1952. After high school George joined the United States Army and served from October of 1952 until October of 1954.  George married Helen Marie Vaughn in Sperry, Oklahoma, on January 31, 1953. George was employed as a truck driver hauling cattle, a mechanic, he worked in the oilfield for twenty-five years, and as a supervisor for Tulsa County until he retired on July 31, 2003. He was a member of Avant First Baptist Church. George loved fishing, sports, traveling, playing cards, mountains, spending time with his dog Comet and his family.
George was preceded in death by his mother and father: Ruth and John, wife: Marie, sons: David Okerson and John Okerson, sisters: Barbara Burns and Sharon Wood, and five grandchildren.
George is survived by his children: Beverly Dashkovitz, Susan Wheeler, Rajeana Huckbone, Brian Okerson, and Gene Okerson, brother: Don Wayne Okerson, sister: Linda Wood, twenty-six grandchildren, forty-six great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family of George Okerson entrusted his care and services to Sien-Shelton Funeral Home Skiatook.
