George Beard, age 75, of Skiatook, Oklahoma went to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, August 21, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
George was born June 8, 1949, in Tulsa to John Patrick and Ella J. (Naughton) Beard. He grew up and received his education in Skiatook, Oklahoma. After high school he joined the United States Army and served from October 15, 1969, to August 13, 1971. During his time in the service, he received the Good Conduct medal, Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Staff and Personal Support Medal, Overseas Service Bars, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal with 1960 Bar, and Purple Heart. George later attended the University of Tulsa where he earned bachelor’s degrees in criminal justice and history. Thereafter, he served as a Patrol and K-9 officer for 14 years for the City of Tulsa where he was regarded by many as one of the best on the force. Upon his retirement from the department, he was even allowed to keep his partner and best friend, Major.
George then transitioned to the banking industry, quickly rising to the position of Vice President of the First Bank of Turley.
He was a proud and cherished member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. You would be hard pressed not to find George with a fishing pole or firearm on or near him and wearing his favorite pair of overalls. He also enjoyed farming, woodworking, and reading a delightful book. More than anything else, he always loved the time he got to spend with each of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
On August 24, 1974, George Married the love of his life Linda Louise (McCollough) Beard and made their home in Skiatook, OK where they remained loving and committed to one another for 50 years.
George was proceeded in death by his parents Pat and Jackie, and brother Darrell Beard.
George is survived by his loving wife: Linda, children Rodney Beard (wife Karen), Patrick Beard (wife Shellie), and Amy Alonso (husband Ryan), seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
