Eleanor Eileen Rountree
Funeral services for Eleanor Eileen Rountree will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dale Nielsen, officiating. Interment will follow in the Osage Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
Eleanor E. Rountree, age 84, of Tulsa and former Skiatook resident, passed away Monday, January 16, 2017 at her Tulsa residence.
Eleanor was born January 29, 1932 in Del Norte, Colorado to Enoch Leonard and Loda (Upshaw) Black. Eleanor grew up and received her education in Skiatook graduating in 1949. She married Fred Rountree Jr. on December 26, 1948 where they just celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. Eleanor and Fred have made their home in Tulsa, South Coffeyville, Oklahoma and Skiatook. Eleanor was a homemaker and loving wife and mother. Eleanor liked painting, reading, pottery, sewing, calligraphy and cooking. Eleanor was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Philbrook Museum of Art.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her mother and father, two brothers and by one sister.
Eleanor is survived by her husband of 68 years: Fred, four children: James Richard Rountree, Jerry Lynn Rountree, Darla Suann (Rountree) Grazdan and Dayna Ilene (Rountree) Forrester, two sisters: Betty Lorraine (Black) Herring-Griggs and Margaret Darlene (Black) Thomason, eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Music for the services will be: “Amazing Grace” performed by Sunshine Farris, “The Old Rugged Cross” and “He Walks With Me”.
Casket escorts for the services will be: Richard Rountree, Jerry Rountree, Josh Farris, Nick Forrester, Steve Forrester and Greg Grazdan.
The family of Eleanor Eileen Rountree entrusted her care and services to the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
