Funeral services for Earl “Butch” Hurd Jr. will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the First Baptist Church with Glenn Cooley, officiating. Interment will follow in the Osage Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.

Earl “Butch” Hurd Jr., age 67, of Pawhuska, died at 5:07 p.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2013 in Pawhuska.

Butch was born February 17, 1946 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Earl and Opal (Harkness) Hurd. Butch grew up and received his education in Skiatook graduating from High School in 1965, then attended Oklahoma A&M College.  Butch joined the Army April 29th 1965, and served one tour in Vietnam where he was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star.   Butch was also awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat. Butch was happily married to LaRue Lohman for the past 41 years. Butch was a proud father of six children and a “PaPa” to 17 grandchildren. Butch was a Rancher and lived in Skiatook, Weiser Idahoand then moved back to Pawhuska in 1990.

Butch was preceded in death by his mother and father, infant son: Kenneth Earl Hurd, brothers: Paul, Jim and Jerry Hurd and sister: Earlene Hiser Brogden.

Butch is survived by his wife: LaRue of the home, five children: Ronnie Hurd of Skiatook, Gary Hurd and wife Kristina of Wichita, Ks, Danny Joe Laird of Pawhuska, Travis Hurd and wife Rene of Bartlesville and Tina Pittman and husband Terry of Weatherford, TX, two sisters: Nadine Moyer Rader of Skiatook and Sharon Raines of Searcy, Arkansas, mother-in-law: Alean Lohman of Pawhuska, grandchildren: Erica, Breanna, Nathan, Brianna, Miranda, Trae, Devin, Denae, Camie, Casey, Marissa Stephens, Tiffany, John Robert, Mackenzie, Meagan, Maclain and Kelsie, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Casket escorts for the services are: Gary Hurd, Ronnie Hurd, Buddy King, Matt Fugate, Jerry Ray and Troy Hurd.
