Dortha Lee “Dorthy” (Buster) Adkins
Funeral services for Dorthy Adkins will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2016 in the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Robert Adkins, officiating. Interment will follow in the Lone Elm Cemetery in Claremore under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
Dorthy Adkins, age 82, of Avant, died at 7:27 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2016 in the Journey Home in Bartlesville.
Dorthy was born November 25, 1933 in Monett, Missouri to Bill D. and Dica Josephine (Catlett) Buster. She grew up and received her education in Collinsville she was so smart she went from first grade to third grade and graduated from high school in 1949. Dorthy married Ted Adkins on June 20, 1963 in Sperry and they made their home in Skiatook most their married lives. Dorthy was employed with Debbie’s Diner, Shepherds Fold Ranch, and had owned and operated Home Town Café and Sperry Café. Dorthy liked sewing, reading, needle point, crochet and cooking. Dorthy was raised of the Pentecostal faith where her father was a Pentecostal preacher for over fifty years.
Dorthy was preceded in death by her mother and father,husband Ted Adkins, two brothers, one sister, one daughter: Regina Gayle Huckleberry and by one son: Ted Adkins.
Dorthy is survived by her four children: Rick Huckleberry, Tom Franklin, Renee (Adkins) Anderson and Rob Adkins, three sisters: Lucille Price, Juanita Seely and Sheila Harris, thirteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Dorthy was an avid Elvis Presley fan so music selections for the services will be: “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art” and various other Elvis Gospels.
Casket escorts for the services will be: Daniel Anderson, Aaron Anderson, Teddy William Adkins, Robby Adkins, Kalob Franklin, Lane Franklin, Jerod Greenleaf and Phillip Boswell.
Funeral services and interment are under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
