Dorotha "Maxine" (Darrow) Jordan

Dorotha Maxine Jordan was born August 17, 1925, the eldest of three daughters born to S.L. (Syd) Darrow and Pearl Darrow of Sperry, Oklahoma.  During her high school years, she was involved with her parents in establishing Darrow's General Merchandise in Sperry.  As a young teenager, she worked part-time as substitute telephone switchboard operator in Sperry.  She attended First Baptist Church of Sperry where she was saved and baptized.  For a time, during her late teen years, she served as choir director for the church.  She graduated from Sperry High School in 1943 and worked in the paymaster's office at Spartan Aircraft during the war years.  On November 17, 1945, she married Fred Jordan of Skiatook and they made their first home southwest of Skiatook.   They later lived in Sperry for 14 years where Fred served on the Town Board.  They had three sons, Sydney, Bill and Kevin.   When her youngest son started school, she enrolled at the University of Tulsa, majoring in Elementary Education.  Upon  graduation, she began her teaching career at Skiatook Public Schools where she taught third grade for 25 years, impacting the lives of hundreds of children.

In 1966, Maxine and Fred moved to the family ranch in Osage County where Fred served as County Commissioner while Maxine taught at Skiatook.  Fred passed away in 1992 and Maxine continued to live in her home on the ranch until her death.  Her greatest delight was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Fred and her sister Pally Eaton.  She is survived by her three sons, Sydney (Beverly) Jordan of Clarksville, TN, Bill Jordan of Raleigh, NC, and Kevin (Susan) Jordan of Tulsa;  Five grandchildren, Fred (Kara) Jordan of Tulsa, Col. Andy (Susan) Jordan of Carlisle Barracks, PA, Tiffani (Ryan) Cooper of Owasso, Chad Jordan of Norman and Tara Jordan de Lara (Ricardo) also of Norman.  She was also blessed with five great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters.  Maxine is also survived by her sister, Mary (Woody) Payne of Owasso and a host of nieces and nephews.  Maxine was a woman of prayer and her greatest desire for all those she knew and loved was that they have a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
